Configuring Upload Details

Once your imagery has been reviewed in the preview, the next step is to configure the upload details. These settings determine how your dataset is organized in Solvi and whether any optional processing features are applied.

Selecting Farm and Field

Each upload must be linked to a farm and field. By default, the farm selected on the home page is pre-filled. You can switch to another farm using the drop-down menu. If the farm you need does not exist yet, return to the home page, create the farm, and then restart the upload process.

Within each farm, imagery is stored under fields. You can assign the upload to an existing field from the drop-down list or create a new one. To create a new field, click New Field, enter a name, and confirm.

Setting Crop Type

The crop type can be specified as part of the metadata. Selecting the correct crop type helps with filtering, organization, and applying the appropriate analysis tools. Even though this step is optional, it is strongly recommended.

You can choose among the pre-defined crop types or create a new ones by clicking the New button and specifying crop name. Next time, the newly created crop type will be in the list along with predefined crops.

Express Upload Option

The Express Upload option reduces file sizes by downscaling images before transfer. This makes the upload faster, which is helpful if you are working with a slow internet connection or only need a quick overview map. However, it also reduces the resolution of the dataset. For detailed analysis, such as plant counts, leave this option unchecked to preserve full resolution.

Ground Control Points (GCPs)

If you have collected Ground Control Points with high-accuracy GPS equipment, you can add them during the upload. Solvi will use the GCPs to improve the georeferencing accuracy of the final map. This is especially important in research trials or projects where precise positioning is required.

Best Practices for Configuration

  • Upload one dataset per field per flight. Exception: if fields are located very close together or share a boundary, they can be processed together.
  • Do not include the flight date, imagery type (RGB or multispectral), or crop type in the field name. These details are extracted automatically or set separately.
  • Always use the dedicated crop type field rather than putting crop information into the field name.
